The town at the beginning of the story
Akkad was the centre of the first great empire in human history, founded by Sargon of Akkad in the 24th century BC in Mesopotamia — the cradle of civilisation between the Euphrates and the Tigris. From Akkad, an empire comprising several peoples, languages and cities was ruled for the first time; the Akkadian language remained the language of diplomacy in the Near East for centuries.
A treasure that nobody has found
The city of Akkad is said to have been fabulously rich — yet its exact location has not yet been definitively established archaeologically. It is known from inscriptions, lists of kings and the accounts of its neighbours; its ruins lie somewhere beneath the fields of Iraq, presumably near Baghdad. Generations of archaeologists have searched for it. A lost treasure whose exact location remains a mystery.
What this has to do with property
This is precisely the philosophy that underpins our approach: we unearth value that others overlook and bring to light potential where it lies hidden — the apartment block with the unused loft, the flat that is never put on the market, the buyer who has been waiting for exactly this house for years. The Viennese property market is full of such treasures. You just need to know where to look.
What the name implies
A name like that comes with certain obligations. Anyone who calls themselves a ‘hunter of lost treasures’ must have the patience to search for a long time, and the honesty to admit when a supposed treasure turns out not to be one. Both are part of our day-to-day work: the block of flats we advise a client against, just as much as the flat we’d had our eye on for two years until it became available.

Founded in 2008, based in the city centre, and operating throughout Vienna and the surrounding area: we have deliberately remained a small business, with dedicated points of contact and no chain of branches. After all, treasures aren’t found using a database, but through people who know the city.
